With the constant development of big data, machine translation, speech recognition and other artificial intelligence technologies, a series of profound changes are taking place in language service, language education and other disciplines such as journalism, legislation, economic management, and computer that are reflected in various vertical fields. As a global, multidisciplinary and multilingual research and application alliance based on an open research platform for big data resources sharing, the Language Big Data Alliance (hereinafter referred to as "LBDA") is welcoming its first anniversary of establishment. The annual meeting is to be held in Guangzhou on April 7 and 8, 2017, with the attendance of domestic and foreign experts and scholars specialized in big data study and such vertical fields as languages teaching, journalism, economic management and legislation. The agenda of this meeting was officially released a few days ago.
Co-organized by Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Global Tone Communication Technology Co., Ltd. and themed as “Inspire the Future,” the meeting will probe into such topics as “Cooperation and Resources Sharing among Colleges and Universities at Home and Abroad”, “Exchanges and Sharing of Core Technologies” and “Release of Big Data Collection and Analysis Achievements in Vertical Fields.” Moreover, the meeting will authoritatively issue the latest scientific and technological achievements, launch more cooperation projects, and invite distinguished guests for the dialogues, which will further enhance the interaction and exchanges within and outside LBDA.
Over the past year, LBDA has attached great importance to its global layout. It has developed more than 150 college and university members all over the world, covering many fields, including computer, language, legislation, journalism and economic management. In addition, from the strategic contract signing between LBDA and CIUTI (Conférence Internationale permanente d'Instituts Universitaires de Traducteurs et Interprètes) to the introduction of international higher education institutions for the co-founding of alliance, all have promoted the exchanges and sharing of global language big data resources, which is not only a response to the national strategy of “Going Global,” but also a requirement for its international development. At the LBDA annual meeting, expert representatives from the University of Vienna, the University of Geneva and other international higher education institutions will communicate with their domestic counterparts to boost the in-depth exploration and close collaboration in the language big data field among domestic and foreign colleges and universities.
Taking this annual meeting as a great opportunity, LBDA will build up a platform for internal and external communications, bring together elites in various fields around the world to jointly discuss the development trends of the language service industry and correspondingmeasures to take in theage of artificial intelligence, thus gaining momentum for the development of the global language industry.
