On October 3, 2017, in celebration of the 80th anniversary of its founding, RUC held a journalism alumni forum at Mingde Building. Liu Wei, principal of RUC, Zhao Qizheng, former director of the State Council Information Office and dean of the School of Journalism and Communication of RUC, Guo Weimin, deputy director of the State Council Information Office, Hu Baijing, executive director of the School of Journalism and Communication of RUC, and Yu Yang, CEO of Global Tone Communication Technology Co., Ltd.(GTCOM) unveiled together the National Communication Strategy Research Center of Renmin University of China. Hu Baijing and Yu Yang were appointed as co-directors of the Center. Yu Yang, on behalf of GTCOM, gave a speech on the forum.

In the future, the National Communication Strategy Research Center of Renmin University of China will be committed to the construction of the laboratory platforms of big data, artificial intelligence and news communication as well as digital and international talent center, and to the establishment of a strong platform for national strategic and country research. GTCOM will give full play to its resource advantages in technologies, talents and platform in such fields as big data and artificial intelligence, conduct researches together with the School of Journalism and Communication of RUC in topics such as people’s livelihood, government policy, communication strategy, and country research, and promote the development of the National Communication Strategy Research Center.

Yu Yang, CEO of Global Tone Communication Technology Co., Ltd. (GTCOM) made a speech on the forum.
“GTCOM, a newborn calf, is trying to introduce machine translation, big data and artificial intelligence to unveil a data world that is never imagined, touched or explored", Yu Yang, the CEO mentioned, "it is hoped that it could break the barriers of time, space, and languages to make a qualitative and quantitative analysis of global data". GTCOM has made continuous explorations in the fields of news and big data, employed advanced technologies of big data and artificial intelligence to structuralize data and construct a huge knowledge map, providing decision-making references for the nation’s global communication strategy through the analysis of big data.
