Founded on April 18, 2003, GIIT of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) comprises four major academic components: Applied Translation and Interpreting Department / Teaching and Management Center for Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) Programs; Department of Translation Studies; Translation and Internship Center (TIC); and East Journal of Translation Magazine.
Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) is a key liberal arts university with unique strengths in foreign languages. Within three years of its existence, GIIT became one of the 15 AIIC recognized Category One programs worldwide. Since its founding, GIIT has graduated 11 classes of top-notch conference interpreters of Chinese-English combination, some of whom have been recruited by the United Nations as staff interpreters.
