More than 120 scholars and specialists from China and other countries participated in an international seminar, “China-Arab Cultural Communication in Translation,” held at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) from June 4 to 5 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Sino-Arab diplomatic ties.

The seminar, only one activity of China-Arab cultural communication forum, has eight sessions and a series of discussion topics related to Chinese-Arabic translation, including translation theory and skills, its effect on the strategic concept “One Belt and One Road”, the development of translation institutions and translation teaching.

The seminar was covered by media outlets, such as China Central Television (CCTV), Xinhua News Agency and People's Daily Online.

In the interview of CCTV’s Arabic International Channel, SISU Council Chair Jiang Feng talked about the development of the university and its influence in transnational cultural communication.

The attendees of the seminar were from major educational institutions in China, Central Compilation and Translation Bureau, major media outlets and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. And foreign specialists came from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Pakistan, Morocco, France and other countries.
