On February 24, 2016, General Manager Yu Yang of Global Tone Communication Technology Co., Ltd. (GTC Tech) and Professor Wang Lidi, Assistant Dean of the School of Arts & Social Sciences of Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (hereafter referred to as CUHKSZ) signed a memorandum of cooperation, which marked the start of the strategic cooperation between both parties. At the strategic seminar, GTC Tech and CUHKSZ had an in-depth discussion on cooperation in machine translation, speech recognition, computer assisted translation, and big data, and reached consensuses. They also exchanged ideas on university-research-industry cooperation in terms of language big data, language technologies, student practice & training base construction, laboratory building, etc.
The Opening Program of Language Big Data is a global multi-field and multi-language program for opening and sharing big data resources, pooling global cross-language big data resources, so that various sectors can benefit from it in the course of exchange and sharing. As an internationally famous university, CUHK has established its own big data research center and robot & intelligent manufacturing laboratory, with research findings awing the world. CUHKSZ School of Arts & Social Sciences expressly stated its willingness to participate in LBDA and the Opening Program of Language Big Data, and expected for wider cooperation in developing algorithms and regulations regarding machine translation.

The strategic cooperation between GTC Tech and CUHK indicates a big step toward their cooperation in higher education, technology and culture. They agreed to jointly build an intelligent language laboratory, and carry out the Opening Program of Language Big Data, training high-caliber innovative talents with a global view for national and regional development, and pushing forward the high education reform at the same time.
Rooted in China, GTC Tech will cooperate with famous universities around the world to build a mega language big database, providing wide support of Big Database Think-Tank to nations, organizations and individuals.
