On March 27, 2016, the LBDA Preliminary Conference was convened in Beijing. Executive Vice President Huang Youyi of the Translators Association of China, President Zhong Weihe of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, General Manager Huang Song of China Translation Corporation, and the representatives of more than 20 key universities nationwide attended the meeting and signed the LBDA Initiative. Mr. Huang Youyi, Mr. Zhong Weihe and Mr. Huang Song addressed at the meeting. Mr. Yu Yang, CEO of Global Tone Communication Technology Co., Ltd. (GTC Tech) introduced the Opening Program of Language Big Data.

GTC Tech will share its advanced technologies and platform resources such as mega corpus, machine translation (MT) system, computer aided translation (CAT) system, translation management system (TMS), language asset management system, and speech recognition system with LBDA members, and cooperate with universities, research institutions, companies and social organizations in language training & practice, scientific research, and business operations as a language service provider. Issues like the LBDA Charter, the establishment of branches, working plans, and membership application were discussed by the initiators at the meeting.

Based on the open and shared platform of big data resources, the Language Big Data Alliance is a global, multi-field and multi-language alliance of scientific research and application.
