On March 1-2, 2017, the 33rd LocWorld themed as "Continuous Delivery" was held in Shenzhen with the attendance of more than 500 representatives from industry giants such as Google, Alibaba and IBM. This year's event featured a series of sub-forums revolving around an array of topics including Advanced Localization Management, Global Business, and Translation Automation. On March 1, GTCOM (Global Tone Communication Technology Co., Ltd.) Vice President Ying CHAI delivered a keynote speech on "Evolution of CAT Tools in the Era of Internet and Big Data: From Software to Platform" at the sub-forum "New Tendencies of CAT Tools: Summary and Assessment."

In Ms. CHAI's speech, she reviewed the evolution of translation tools over the past 40 years and highlighted the increasingly higher requirements for translation efficiency, accuracy and coherence. The advance made in Internet, cloud computing, big data and incremental learning technologies has transformed traditional CAT(computer-aided translation) tools in multiple ways, among which the most notable is the development from a simple software to a multi-dimensional platform. Ms. CHAI also introduced GTCOM's independently-developed platform YeeKit 4.0 toolkit, which was built on the company's billions of corpora with the integration of such cutting-edge technologies as big data retrieval, incremental learning and neural network-based machine translation. It has enabled real-time communication and cooperation between project managers and translators in a streamlined working process. Compared with other common CAT tools available in the market, YeeKit 4.0 is unique as it offers more customized services. For example, in addition to the practical functions such as automatic check, corpora accumulation and intelligent reminder, it also boasts real-time accumulation tools for machine translation and translation memory that can meet various needs of translators. According to Ms. CHAI, GTCOM will keep exploring in the big data and AI (Artificial Intelligence) field to optimize and update YeeKit into a more accurate, efficient platform with visualized and customized services.
